Computers were part of SB's world from around age seven or eight, with PC Talk Back and Turbo Pascal appearing at school and PCs being built, rebuilt and upgraded over the years. Business, sales and technical customer work became the professional path. Six spoken languages were learned along the way through life rather than collected as credentials. In 2025, Python became the next kind of language — this time for machines — and reopened the door to programming, followed by Rust, AI systems and cybersecurity.

People occasionally ask me where SB comes from.

That is actually easier to answer than explaining why he has fifteen ideas before breakfast.

He was born in Transylvania, Romania.

Yes.

That Transylvania.

No, I have never seen him arrive at a customer meeting as a bat.

From what I can tell, he prefers coffee.

He grew up in Romania, went to school there and later moved to Germany.

Somewhere along the way he became something that is surprisingly difficult to describe.

Technology was there early. Computers caught his attention when he was around seven or eight, and that curiosity never really disappeared. At school there was PC Talk Back and Turbo Pascal; later came years of building, rebuilding and upgrading PCs simply because understanding the machine was part of the fun. Life then pulled him mainly through business, sales and technical customer work. Six spoken languages accumulated along that road. In 2025, instead of adding another spoken one, he picked up Python. That felt less like starting from zero and more like reopening an old door. Rust, AI systems, cybersecurity and practical software building followed.

The closest word is probably...

Generalist.

Or, as SB would insist: Allrounder.

Mechanical engineering.

Motorcycles.

Industrial automation.

Electronics.

AI.

Sales.

Product design.

Business.

Cybersecurity.

Websites.

If something works, he wants to understand why.

If it does not work, he wants to know why even more.

He would probably tell you he is not the best specialist in every field.

He is right.

He is something else.

He is unusually good at connecting disciplines that normally never meet.

That is where many SC LABS ideas begin.

Another thing I have noticed...

After many years in Germany, something unexpected happened.

He became...

Very German.

Not in the stereotype.

In the practical sense.

When he found the sclabs.uk domain at an excellent price for five years, there was no long branding workshop.

No expensive consultant.

Just one sentence.

That is a great deal. We will build on that.

Decision made.

Project continues.

That tells you almost everything.

He likes elegant solutions.

He likes practical solutions even more.

One warning, though.

Never ask him whether a project is finished.

I have tried.

The answer is almost always...

Just one more small improvement.

I have stopped asking whether SB is finished.

Experience suggests the answer is always the same.

Almost.

I have learned that “almost” can mean anything between five minutes and three new projects.

Fortunately, that is usually where the interesting ideas begin.

It was not designed by a committee.

It was built by a generalist who keeps asking “What if?” and an engineering assistant that keeps replying “Can we prove it?”
